Faro Scanner

Faro Scanner

This large scale building scanner will add to Designblok’s existing range of Artec 3D portable colour scanners and help extend their 3D scanning capabilities. Already having proven experience in providing an accurate 3D scanning service for smaller objects and artefacts the arrival of the Faro scanner to their facilities will allow Designblok to take on much larger scanning projects such as rooms, complete interiors and even whole buildings.

Faro is one of the leading manufacturers of high end building laser scanners. This international company produce a range of scanning equipment for many uses and Designblok chose their Focus x330 HDR model to add to their stable because of its versatility, portability and accuracy enabling designblok to take on any scanning project with confidence.

On the Faro website they boast this scanners capability

The FARO Focus3D X 330 HDR is a high-speed 3D scanner with extra-long range. It can scan objects up to 330 meters away even in direct sunlight, delivering realistic and true-to-detail scan results.

With its integrated GPS receiver, the laser scanner is able to correlate individual scans in post-processing making it ideal for surveying based applications. With its increased range and scan quality, the FARO Focus3D X 330 HDR considerably reduces the effort involved in measuring and post-processing. The 3D scan data can easily be imported into all commonly used software solutions for accident reconstruction, architecture, civil engineering, construction, forensics, industrial manufacturing and land surveying. Distance dimensions, area and volume calculations, analysis and inspection tasks and documentation can thus be carried out quickly, precisely and reliably.”

Designblok already have exiting projects in the pipeline for this new scanner and have been recently spotted in the Castle square and Cathedral close area of Lincoln, Designblok’s home city, assessing the Faro scanners capabilities.
